Kenny’s
main amp is a Fender (evil) Twin Reverb Amp with 2 12” speakers.
He also uses a 1970 Yamaha 100 watt Tremolo amp and a tweed 4x10 open
back cabinet. For the acoustic shows, Kenny usually plugs
straight into the PA with or without a direct
box. |

Kenny
currently uses very little effects. He owns The Boss ME 33 multi
effects unit, which houses reverbs, delays, pedal effects, wah, volume,
etc. and special effects. It also includes a built in tuner and
amp simulator. |

1995 Stratocaster
Kenny’s main
guitar is a 1995 Fender Powerhouse Stratocaster, black with a white
pick guard
and a maple neck. It has standard pickups with a mid range
boost. Kenny added Sperzel locking tuners and Graphtec saddles
and nut |

Sheats
Custom Telecaster – Thin Line
Built by the
late Pete Sheats of Newark, DE. This guitar has 3 single coil EMG
pickups, a mid range boost, toggle switch pickup configuration,
Graphtec saddles
and nut. This guitar was a gift from Pete back in 1991.
Since
Pete’s passing a few years back, Kenny rarely takes it out of the
house.
Pete’s son Chris still runs the Sheats Guitar Factory in Newark and
continues
to work on Kenny’s guitars whenever needed. |

Hybrid Guitar
Kenny has a
hybrid guitar made by Gregg Krochman of Classic Axe Guitars in
Nashville, TN. Designed by Kenny, the body resembles a 335 Gibson
with a taste of Fender Strat and just a hint of the Moserite guitars
used by California bases
1960s group The Ventures.The guitar has 4 EMG single coil pickups with coil tap, 5-way vari tone knob, and a Washburn wonder bar whammy. The neck is a sunken bolt on with an ebony fingerboard. Kenny also designed the custom neck inlay. Some cosmetic changes were made by Pete Sheats; reshaping the body and the custom blue paint job. |

Odds and Ends
Kenny currently uses Darco Strings, gauges 11 – 48 for electric, and 13-56 for acoustic, Kyser capos, and Gibson medium and heavy picks. Kenny uses a variety of tubes for his amps. He’s always searching for the ultimate tone!!! Kenny uses Fender straps for all of his guitars. More Toys?
Kenny plans to add a new guitar or two ASAP. He wants a Jazz type i.e. Gibson 175. Kenny also wants the Boss GT 6 effects processor. While on his quest of the perfect tone, Kenny is always listening and trying new amps. Check back here for new gear and other tidbits! |
